Married Couple forced to house criminal

|

A legal loophole left a South Gloucestershire family with an unwanted guest after he gave their address to a court and was given a curfew.

Shane Sims, 19, had been staying with Glenda Cole and her family and gave his temporary address as the Coles.

Mrs Cole said everything had been done without her knowledge and the courts had not asked her permission.

Police said there was nothing they could do and Mr Sims must stay at that address until his tag was removed.

Mrs Cole added: "I was on the verge of being thrown out by my housing association as I was going against my tenancy rules. "I was very upset."

Criminal gets stuck in wet cement while running away from police

| |

An attempted carjacking was foiled and the suspect captured when he ran and became mired in freshly poured concrete at a construction site, police said.

Construction workers helped nab Rudy Aguas after police said he pistol-whipped a motel guest packing luggage into a truck Tuesday morning.

According to police, the 30-year-old guest of the Courtyard by Marriott was leaving the hotel and packing his luggage, while his girlfriend and small child were in the vehicle.

Aguas, 25, allegedly placed a pistol to his head while the man stood at the rear of his truck. Another suspect stood by the open driver's door near the woman and their child.

Police said Aguas demanded the vehicle and struck the man three times in the head with the butt of his gun.

The suspects fled after the victim grabbed for the gun and it fired in the air.

An officer saw Aguas running and followed him into a building, where he ran into a freshly poured concrete floor, police said.

Aguas was tackled by construction workers and arrested.

Man convicted of rape after victim recognized his bad breath

| |

Although Lee has ties to China, his passport is in the custody of the Quincy District Court and authorities believe he could still be in Massachusetts or elsewhere in New England.

The rape victim, in her early 20s, was at home in February 2005 when she was grabbed by a masked man, gagged with duct tape, bound and then raped.

She told cops she recognized the attacker as her boss because of his bad breath. Lee was arrested eight days later after DNA evidence was found at the scene.

Cops launched a major manhunt at airports throughout New England after Lee fled before closing arguments began in the trial last Wednesday.

Man steals computer and then uploads pictures of himself on stolen iMac using owner's Flickr account

| | |

Dane Brown says,

Last week a number of computers were stolen from our office in Vancouver, BC. One of those computers was a shared iMac with Flickrbooth, an app that automatically uploads photo booth shots to our flickr account, installed on it. Just this morning a friend called to tell us that there are photos of whoever has the computer now in our flickr stream! Obviously the guy didn't know he was uploading images of himself and his awesome tattoos.

Here's a link to the shots on the company's flickr account. Do you know who this guy is? The theft victims and the Vancouver police would love to hear about it. Looks like the SomethingAwful forums are all over the case, too.

And looks like there are more security cam photos of this man here, and video here.
